…….and what i thought of some of them
In March of 2019, we took a day trip from Palm City to Lake Wales, Florida. We went with friends to a magnificent area called Bok Tower and Gardens. We also visited Pinewood Estate which is on the National Historic Register and is near the property. The home is a one of a kind 1932 Mediterranean style home and Olmsted designed landscape.
Bok Gardens is one of the finest examples of landscape architect design by the well known Frederick Olmsted. Meandering pathways through the 50 acre shaded woodland garden and bird sanctuary, there are more than 1000 native and non native plants.
The tower is a 250 foot neo Gothic Singing Tower which was designed by Milton Medary. Dedicated in 1929, the tower houses a 60 bell carillon, one of the world’s finest. Beautiful concerts occur each day.
We had a glorious sunny day to visit this very special place where even the sound of a cell phone would be an invasion.
