Convenience Store Woman

This is a short book about social conformity in Japan, but it applies everywhere. It depicts a young woman who sees her role in life as a convenience store worker and she devotes her days to service to the people.  It is an unusual, bizarre and thoroughly charming book about an autistic woman who spends her entire adult life working at the store that she comes to love. The unchanging world of the store makes sense to Keiko and, having studied the store manual, she knows exactly what is expected of her and how to do it.  There is safety, security and success in that.
