The Postmistress of Paris

Nanee, an American heiress from Chicago, finds herself in Europe, specifically France where she is meeting artists, authors and intellectuals.  The time period is the 1940’s and Hitler is invading.  Nanee flies her own plane and can prove her worth to the French resistance, specifically working with Varian Fry, another American who is committed to justice.  Nanee is a fictional character who is loosely based on Mary Jayne Gold, an heiress.  Varian Fry really existed and was successful in relocating many refugees out of Vichy France.

This is a good story, based on real happenings.  Part love story, part artistry, it provided another glimpse of what life might have been like in France during World War 2.  I listened to the novel and enjoyed it.
